And he cried out, the elder-born of the gods, the revered Bhava: Ordainer, teacher of the world, make me names, and places to be in. So the revered one born of the lotus, holding to what he had said, answered him in kindly words: Do not cry. I will do that for you. Best of gods, because you cried like a child in distress, the creatures will call you by the name Rudra. The heart, the senses, the breath, the sky, wind, fire, water, earth, the sun, the moon and austerity: these places I have already made for you. Manyu, Manu, Mahinasa, Mahan, Siva, Rtadhvaja, Ugraretas, Bhava, Kala, Vamadeva, Dhrtavrata. Dhi, Vrti, Usana, Uma, Niyut, Sarpi, Ila, Ambika, Iravati, Svadha, Diksa: these Rudranis, Rudra, are your women.

Take these names and these places, and your wives with them, and by them bring forth many creatures, since you are the lord of creatures.
