So instructed by his own teacher, the revered blue-and-red one brought forth creatures the match of himself in being, in shape and in nature. Seeing the countless troops of Rudras that Rudra had made eating up the world on every side, the lord of creatures took fright. Enough, best of gods, of creatures made after this fashion, who with their terrible eyes burn the quarters, and me along with them. Take up austerity, which brings ease to every being; may it go well with you. By austerity alone, as before, you will be the maker of this world. By austerity alone a man finds without trouble the highest light, the Bhagavan beyond the reach of the senses, who lives in the cave of every being.

So instructed by the self-born, he walked round the lord of speech, said that it should be so, took his leave of him, and went into the forest for austerity.
