I will keep to the command of the revered one, destroyer of afflictions. But grant here, lord, a place for the creatures and for me. The earth, which is the home of every living thing, has sunk in the great water. God, let some effort be made to lift this goddess up. But the one who sits highest, seeing the earth fallen in that way into the midst of the waters, thought long with his understanding: how am I to bring her up? While I was making, the earth was flooded by the waters and has gone down to the deep. What are we, who are set to this making, to do about it here? Let that Lord out of whose heart I came arrange it for me.

As he was thinking so, sinless one, all at once out of the hollow of his nostril there came a young boar the size of a thumb. Standing in the sky before his eyes, Bharata, in a moment it grew to the size of an elephant. That was a great wonder.
