36To his wife, trembling and asking a worldly blessing on what she had brought forth, the lord of creatures spoke, his observance of the twilight now finished. 37Because you were not made ready in yourself, and because of the fault of the hour, and because you went past what I told you, and because you slighted the gods so far, 38two ill-boding sons will be yours, ill-fated woman, the lowest of what a womb bears; and they will make the three worlds and their guardians cry out again and again, fierce one. 39When living things are being killed, poor things that have done no wrong, and women are being seized, and the great are made angry,
40then the lord of the world, the Bhagavan who brings the worlds into being, in his anger will come down and kill them, as the holder of the hundred-jointed bolt struck the mountains. 41I ask that the killing of my two sons be by the Bhagavan himself, whose open arm holds the fine-naveled one, and not by an angry brahmin, mighty one. 42For one burnt by the brahmin's rod, and for one who makes beings afraid, not even those in hell show kindness, into whatever womb he goes.
