Diti carried that seed of the lord of creatures, which puts out the strength of others, for a hundred years, and she was afraid because of the harm it meant for the gods. When the light of the world was struck down by it, the guardians of the worlds, their own strength struck down, reported to the world's maker how darkness was spreading through the quarters. Mighty one, you know this darkness, at which we are badly shaken; for nothing lies unshown to the revered one, whose path time does not touch. God of gods, upholder of the world, crest-jewel of the lords of the worlds, you know the minds of beings both high and low.

Salutation to you whose strength is knowing, who by maya have come to be this, who have taken on the parting of the strands; salutation to you whose source is unshown.
