The spear, and the fist· Verses 13–16

He took up a three-pointed spear, greedy with blazing fire, as a man working a spell against a brahmin might, against the one who had taken form for the sake of sacrifice. Thrown with all the force of that great fighter among the demons, it shone in the middle of the sky with a risen blaze. Hari cut it apart with his wheel of whetted rim, as one cuts a feather let fall from Tarksya's bird. When his spear had been cut in many pieces by Hari's wheel, his rage swelled. He came up, roared, struck that broad and glorious chest with a hard fist, and vanished. Struck so by him, Ksatta, the Bhagavan, the first boar, did not shake in the least anywhere, like an elephant hit with a garland.
