By one's own duty done with nothing wanted from it, which is a great thing; by a yoga of works that is well spoken of and does no great harm, and is kept up always; by seeing and touching my places, and worshipping and praising and bowing there; by thinking of me in all beings; by clarity, and by not clinging; by holding the great in high honour, by pity for the wretched, by friendship toward those who are one's equals, and by the restraints and the observances; by hearing again and again what belongs to the innermost self, and by singing out my name; by straightness, by the company of the noble, and by making no I;

the mind of a man who follows my way is made wholly clean by these good qualities, and it comes easily to me, of whom to hear alone is enough. As a smell, riding on the wind, takes hold of the sense of smell from where it sits, so a thought given to yoga takes hold of the self, which does not change.
