From fear of him this wind blows; from fear of him the sun burns; from fear of him the god rains; from fear of him the host of stars shines. In fear of him the great trees and the vines, and the plants along with them, put out their flowers and their fruits each in its own season. In fear of him the rivers run, and the sea does not go past its bound; from fear of him fire burns, and the earth with its mountains does not sink. By his rule the sky gives room to those that breathe, and the great principle stretches out the world as its own body, wrapped about with seven. From fear of him the gods who take the strands for their own carry on creation and the rest, age after age: the gods in whose power is everything that moves and does not move.

He is endless, and he makes the end; he is time, without beginning, the maker of beginnings, and he does not waste away. He brings people to birth by people, and by death he kills even the ender.
