The one knowing, Brahman beyond the strands, shines out through the senses that face outward as though it had the shape of an object, and that is a mistake, taking on sound and the rest for its marks. So too the great one, and the shape that is I, and the threefold, and the fivefold, and the self-ruling, and the elevenfold; his body is the egg, and the world comes out of it. All this a man sees whole who keeps at it always, with trust, with devotion, with the practice of yoga, his self gathered, clinging to nothing, and with detachment in him. Honoured lady, this is the knowledge I have told you, and it is the seeing of Brahman, by which what nature is and what the person is comes to be understood.

The yoga of knowledge that is set on me, standing clear of the strands, and the one whose mark is devotion: for both of them there is one aim only, the one the word Bhagavan points at. As one thing, which holds many qualities, is taken for many by the senses coming at it through their separate doors, so is the Bhagavan taken by the roads of the teachings.
