And Agni, who holds Svaha as his own, begot three sons by her: Pavaka, Pavamana and Suci, who feed on what is offered. From these came forty-five fires; and those, together with their fathers and their grandfathers, are forty-nine. In the rite of the laid-out fires, in the sacrifice, the offerings to fire are set out under their names by those who speak of Brahman; and these are those fires. Agnisvattas, Barhisads, Saumyas and Ajyapas: these are the fathers, some of them with fires and some without, and their wife is Svadha, Daksa's daughter. By them Svadha held two daughters, Vayuna and Dharini, and both of them spoke of Brahman and had gone to the far side of knowing and of knowing through.

But Sati, Bhava's wife, who was given over to the god Bhava, did not get a son like herself in quality and in nature. Her father being no true father to her, in anger at what he did to the faultless Bhava, she gave up her own self by her own self, joined to yoga, and she was still young.
