By your maya a man of poor mind takes the thing before him for real, says of this body I and mine, and is thrown down by his own wrong roads, hungry after what is not real. Yet if he waits on the nectar of the telling of you, he can throw off that delusion too. You are the rite, you are the offering, you are the fire that eats it; the formula, the fuel, the darbha and the vessels. You are the assembly and the priests, the husband and wife, the deity, the fire-offering, the food of the fathers, the soma, the butter and the beast. Long ago, as the great boar, you lifted the earth up out of the depths on your tusk, as a bull elephant lifts a lotus plant, roaring, praised by the yogins, and doing it in play, you whose body is the threefold Veda, you who are the rite and the sacrifice.

Be gracious, then, to us who long for the sight of you and whose good work has fallen apart. Lord of sacrifice, when men sing your name aloud, whatever blocks a sacrifice comes to its end. Salutation to that name. So, good sir, Daksa the seer put back together the sacrifice that Rudra had laid hands on, while the lord of the senses, who makes a sacrifice be, was being sung. The Bhagavan, self of all, who eats every share, was given his own share; and blameless one, he turned to Daksa and spoke to him like one who was pleased.
