Let no power out of the royal house ever prevail over the family of the twice-born, whose god is the Unconquered, blazing as it does of itself with great riches, with patience, with austerity and with learning. Hari, the ancient Person, the god who is kind to the brahmins, first among the greatest, by bowing always at their feet won Laksmi, who does not leave him, and a fame that makes the world clean. By the service of that family the Lord, self-ruling, lying in every hidden place, who loves the brahmins, is well pleased. So let men who are trained and hold to his dharma serve the brahmin family with all their being.

By serving that lasting bond a man comes before long to the utmost stillness, from a self grown gracious, of itself and by itself. What is there here higher than that, which is the mouth of those who eat the offering? The Endless, to whom the highest swans go, eats what those who know the real pour with trust into that mouth, under the names of the offering. He does not eat so in the fire, which has been set outside awareness. They carry within them, by trust and austerity and good works and silence and restraint, in a gathered mind, that Brahman which is lasting and stainless and from of old, so as to see what is real: the Brahman in which all this shows up as in a mirror.
