7Bearing all this, his speech held in, his senses tamed, his seed drawn up, his breath conquered, he did the highest austerity, wanting to win Krsna's favour. 8By that austerity, brought to its end step by step, the lodging of his works and their stain was undone; holding his breath, he shut in the band of six, and his bonds were cut. 9The highest yoga of the inner self, which the revered Sanatkumara had told him: by that very yoga the bull among men served the Person. 10For that good man, living the dharma of the Bhagavan and always striving with trust, there arose a devotion to the Bhagavan, to Brahman, that had no other object.
11His being made clean by that service of the Bhagavan, filled out by the remembering of him that followed on it, there rose in him a knowing that carried detachment; and with that sharp thing he cut through the place of doubt, the sheath of his own living self. 12Every other thought cut away, the way to the self found, wanting nothing, he gave up even the discernment with which he had cut it. For a watchful striver gets nowhere by the courses of yoga so long as he takes no delight in the stories of the elder brother of Gada.
