Vijitasva, Prthu's son, whose fame was wide like his father's, became over-king, and being fond of his brothers he gave the quarters to the younger ones. The mighty one appointed the east to Haryaksa, the south to Dhumrakesa, the west to the one called Vrka, and the fourth to Dravina. Having got from Sakra the power of vanishing, he was called Antardhana, and he begot three children, well thought of, on Sikhandini. Pavaka, Pavamana and Suci had been fires before, and were born so by Vasistha's curse; they went back again to the course of yoga. Antardhana got Havirdhana on Nabhasvati, he who knew that Indra was the thief of the horse and still did not kill him.

Holding the way kings live to be a harsh thing, with its taking of taxes and its rod and its tolls, he gave it up under cover of a long sacrificial session. And even there, seeing the self, he made offering to the swan, the Person, the supreme Self, and by a skilled gathering of the mind he came to that one's world.
