18When I have gone to another world, how will she live, my wife with no one to keep her, grieving over the children? 19She will not eat until I have eaten, nor bathe until I have bathed. She has no one but me. When I am angry she is terrified; when I scold her she holds her tongue in fear. 20She wakes me when I am dull, and wears herself thin with grief when I am away. Though she has borne heroes, will she keep to this householder's road? 21And how will they live once I am gone, my poor boys and girls with nowhere else to turn, like people in a boat broken open at sea? 22While he grieved so with a mean understanding, though such grief was not fitting for him, the one whose name is Fear, his mind made up to take him, came upon him.
23As the yavanas led him off like an animal to his own undoing, his followers ran after him along the road, grieving and badly stricken.
