7Know the mind for Brhadbala, the leader of both kinds of sense. The Pancalas are the five objects, and in among them lies the city with its nine openings. 8The two eyes, the two nostrils, the two ears, and the mouth, the organ and the anus: the gates go two by two, and by them he goes out, joined with the senses. 9The two eyes, the two nostrils and the mouth: these five are set facing east. The right ear is the southern gate, and the left is remembered as the northern. 10The two lower gates are called western: here they are the anus and the organ. Khadyota and Avirmukhi are the two eyes, made in one place, and by them, with sight, the lord looks at lit-up form.
11The two nostrils are Nalini and Nalini; smell is called Saurabha. The nose is Avadhuta, the mouth is Mukhya, speech is Vipana, and taste is the one who knows taste. 12Apana here is the traffic of dealing, and Bahudana is food of many kinds. The right ear is Pitrhu, and the left is remembered as Devahu.
