Saying with the mind, these are mine, and that is I, whatever a man takes hold of becomes work brought to term, and by it there is birth again. As the mind is worked out from what the two kinds of sense do, so the work born in an earlier body is marked out by the workings of the mind. Sometimes a form of such and such a kind is met with in the mind which this body never met with, never saw and never heard. By that, king, believe that such a form belonged to a body of his, of him who carries the subtle form; for a thing never met with cannot touch the mind. The mind alone tells a man of the forms he wore before, and, good be with you, of what is to come, and likewise of what will not come at all.

What was never seen and never heard shows itself here in the mind at times; and one may take it that even this rests on some place, some time and some act.
