As Janardana, in whom the ends of men are held, spoke so, the Pracetas, their palms joined, the stain of darkness and passion broken in them by the sight of him, praised that best of friends in a voice that broke. Homage, and homage again, to the destroyer of affliction, whose names are the great qualities set out one by one; to him who outruns the speed of mind and speech; homage to him whose road no way of the senses reaches. Homage to the pure, to the calm, in whom, since he stands in himself, the pair shines out in the mind to no purpose. Homage to him who takes on a body of maya and the strands for the standing and the dissolving and the rising of the world.

Homage to him whose clarity is unmixed, to Hari, whose very thinking carries things away; to Vasudeva, to Krsna, the source of all the Satvatas. Homage to him whose navel is a lotus, homage to him who wears a lotus garland, homage to him whose feet are lotuses, homage to you, whose eyes are lotuses. Homage to him whose spotless garment is tawny as the filaments of a lotus; to him who dwells in all beings, to the witness, we have made our homage.
