Verse 16
The four buttresses, the four trees, the lakes and the gardens· Verses 11–16
11Mandara, Merumandara, Suparsva and Kumuda, each ten thousand yojanas broad and high, are set as the mountains that prop Meru up at its four quarters. 12On these four stand four of the best of trees, the mango, the rose-apple, the kadamba and the banyan, like banners of the mountains, more than a thousand yojanas high, their branches spread as far, and a hundred yojanas round. 13There are four lakes, of milk, of honey, of sugarcane juice and of clear water. Bull of the Bharatas, the lesser gods who touch that water hold the powers of yoga as their own by nature. 14And there are four gardens of the gods: Nandana, Caitraratha, Vaibhrajaka and Sarvatobhadra.
15In them the chiefs of the deathless ones, lords of the herds of the loveliest women of heaven, take their pleasure while the lesser gods sing their greatness. 16On the lap of Mandara the divine mango, eleven hundred yojanas high, drops from its head fruits as big as mountain peaks, and they are like the drink of the deathless.
