The mountain between light and no light· Verses 34–39

Beyond that, a mountain named Lokaloka is thrown up all around, in the space between the lands that have light and the lands that have none. As far as it is from Manasottara to Meru, so far reaches another land, of gold, like the face of a mirror. Anything let fall on it is never got back by any means, and so all creatures have left it alone. It is called Lokaloka because by this mountain the world with light and the world without it are set apart, the one lying within and the other beyond. The Lord set it all around at the end of the three worlds, so that the rays of the gathered lights, the sun and the rest up to Dhruva, spreading over the three worlds on this side, can never once reach past it. It rises just that high.

This much of the ordering of the worlds has been thought out by the wise by measure, mark and arrangement. This Lokaloka mountain is a quarter part of the earth-globe, which is reckoned at five hundred million. Above it, in the four quarters, the self-born teacher of all the world has settled four lords of elephants, Rsabha, Puskaracuda, Vamana and Aparajita, who are the reason the whole world holds together.
