Shut in, blinded, stitched· Verses 34–37

Those here who shut beings up in blind wells, in granaries, in caves and the like: in the other place they are made to sit in those very things, and are shut in with poison and fire and smoke. A householder who here looks at his guests, at those who come to him, with a wicked eye and rising anger, again and again, as though he would burn them: in that place the eyes of that man of the wicked look are torn out by force and by great strength, by vultures with adamant beaks, by herons and crows and the rest. One who here thinks himself rich, is full of I-making, looks at others sideways, suspects everything on every side, whose heart and face are dried up with worrying that his wealth will be spent or lost, who never comes to any ease and guards his money like a ghoul on it: he too, when he has gone, with the foulness of getting and increasing and guarding it fastened on him, falls into the hell Sucimukha. There the men of the king of dharma stitch that wicked man, that ghoul on his money, all over his limbs with threads, as weavers do.

Hells of this kind are in Yama's house by hundreds and by thousands. Into all of them, lord of the earth, go by turns all who walk in wrongdoing, whether they have been named here or not named; and those who walk in dharma go elsewhere. Here, in the next birth, they enter with what is left over from both.
