Salutation to the highest, whose knowing is never false, the kinsman who is the cause of the three strands showing themselves, whose home is not seen, from whom the mind turns back when it takes the strands for what is real. I offer this to the self-born. A man does not know the friendship of that friend, though he is his friend and lives in this city with him who lives there, as a quality does not know the one who has it and whose sight is clear. To that great Lord I make my salutation. The body, the breaths, the senses, the minds, the elements and their measures do not know the self, nor the other, which is highest. The Person knows all of them and the strands, knowing that; and he does not know the all-knowing. I praise the Endless.

When the mind stops, from the loss of the seeing and the remembering of what has the shape of name and form, then he is reached, by his own standing alone. To that swan, whose seat is clean, salutation. The thoughtful draw out by thought the hidden one set within the heart by his own powers, nine and threefold, as fire that belongs to the fifteen is drawn from wood. He is for me the tasting of the ease of quenching, which is the denying of maya with all its particulars. He is of every name and of every form. May he be gracious, whose own power cannot be spoken.
