25But those flooding rains of weapons and missiles never reached the soldiers of the gods: with quick hands the gods cut them into a thousand pieces on the way. 26Then, their store of missiles and weapons spent, they rained mountain peaks and trees and rocks on the army of the gods; and those too were cut apart as before. 27When Vrtra's men saw those soldiers of Indra unhurt and whole after all their heaps of weapons and missiles, and unmarked by trees and stones and mountain peaks of every kind, they were afraid. 28Every effort the Daityas made against the hosts of gods, again and again, came to nothing, as the harsh burning words small men use against the great, who are turned toward Krsna, come to nothing.
29Seeing their own effort come out false, with no devotion to Hari and their battle-pride broken and their strength taken from them, they left their master at the front of the fight and set their minds on running.
