57When this being of mine is forgotten by a man, and set apart from his own self, out of that comes his round of birth: body after body, death after death. 58One who has come by a human birth here, out of which knowledge and the working of it can come, and does not wake up to the self, will find no safety anywhere. 59Remembering the trouble there is in wanting, and how the fruit of it comes out the wrong way round, and the freedom from fear there is in not wanting, the wise man should stop from making plans. 60Husband and wife do their work for happiness and for release from pain; and out of that comes no ending of pain and no getting of happiness.
61So, having understood this turning about in men who take themselves for knowing, and the fine way of the self, which is not like the three stations, 62let a man be freed by his own light from the measures of what is seen and heard, and, content in knowledge and the working of it, become one devoted to me. 63Just this much, and no more, is what men whose minds are skilled in yoga should know with their whole being as their own good: the seeing of the supreme Self as one. 64King, if you hold to this word of mine with faith and without slipping, filled with knowledge and the working of it, you will come through quickly. 65Having comforted Citraketu in this way, the Bhagavan, teacher of the world, the self of everything, Hari, then disappeared while he watched.
