31For the most part, king, the dharma of men is laid down by their own nature, age by age; so those who see the Veda hold it, and it makes for peace here and hereafter. 32A man who goes on with the living his own nature has made, doing his own work, then lets go the work his nature bore, and comes slowly to be beyond the strands. 33A field that is sown again and again comes of itself to have no strength left. It is no longer fit to bear, and the seed sown in it is lost. 34So too, king, a mind whose bed is desire would turn away from desires by too much serving of them, as a fire does by drops of what feeds it. 35Whatever mark has been named as showing a man's class: if it is seen in another as well, then he should be marked out by that very sign.
