What he does not take up· Verses 7–10

He should not get caught in false teachings, nor live by a trade. He should give up disputes and arguments, and take the side of nobody. He should not bind pupils to himself, nor work through many books, nor make his living by expounding, nor ever start undertakings. For one who strives, great in himself, at peace, even in mind, the stage of life is mostly not the ground of his dharma. He may keep its marks or let them go. His marks unshown, his purpose plain, thoughtful, he goes about like a madman or a child; wise, he keeps as still as a mute, and shows himself to people only by his look.
