In the month of Prausthapada, in the fortnight after the full moon, a twice-born should make the offering to his parents according to his means; and if he has wealth, for their kinsmen too. He should do it at the turn of the sun, at the equinox, at a crossing of the constellations, on a day cut short, at the darkening of moon and sun, on the twelfth, and under Sravana. On the third of the bright fortnight, and on the ninth in the month of Kartika, and on all four of the eighth days in the cold season and in the season of frost. And on the bright seventh in Magha, and when Magha meets the full moon; and when the stars that name the months fall together with the full moon and with the night just short of it.

On the twelfth, when it falls under Anuradha, or Sravana, or the three later stars; or on the eleventh under those three, or joined with one's birth star or with Sravana.
