52A twice-born, made ready by the rites from his begetting to the burning ground, offers up the sacrifices of his acts into his senses, which knowledge has lit. 53He should set the senses in the mind, which is a wave; the mind, which change has made, in speech; speech in the ordered roll of the letters; that in Om, in the sound; Om in the point; the point in the humming; that in the breath, and the breath in the great. 54Fire, the sun, the day, the forenoon, the bright fortnight, the full moon, the northern road, the self-ruler; and the all-one, the shining one, the knowing one, and the fourth, which is the self, when they are followed through together.
55This they call the road of the gods. Becoming one thing after another in order, a man who sacrifices to the self, his self quieted, standing in the self, does not come back. 56Whoever knows these two roads of the fathers and of the gods, laid out in the Veda, with scripture for his eye, is not confused even while he stands among people.
