30When the elephant king had praised in this way one in whom no distinctions are, Brahma and the rest, who each take themselves for a mark set apart, did not come near; and there Hari, who is all the immortals at once, showed himself, being the self of everything. 31Finding him in such distress and hearing his praise, the dwelling place of the world, borne by Garuda who is made of the metres, with the sky-born praising him as they came, went quickly with his discus to where the elephant king was. 32Held in the pond by that great strength, and in pain, he saw Hari in the sky on Garuda with the discus taken up; and lifting his trunk with the lotus in it, he got out these words with difficulty: Narayana, teacher of all, Bhagavan, salutation to you.
33Seeing him hard pressed, the unborn came down at once and out of pity drew him quickly from the pond, the crocodile and all; and tearing the crocodile's mouth apart with his discus, Hari set the elephant king free while the high ones looked on.
