King, this act of Hari's has now been told to you, the holy freeing of the elephant king, which destroys wrongdoing. Now hear about the turn of Raivata. The fifth Manu was named Raivata, brother of Tamasa. His sons were Bali, Vindhya and the rest, with Arjuna at their head. Vibhu was Indra, king, and the hosts of gods were the Bhutarayas and the others; Hiranyaroma, Vedasira, Urdhvabahu and the rest were the twice-born. Vikuntha was the wife of Subhra, and of the two of them, by a portion of himself, the Bhagavan was born as Vaikuntha, with the Vaikunthas, the best of the gods. It was he who fashioned the world Vaikuntha, to which the worlds bow, at the asking of the goddess Fortune and out of a wish to please her.

His power has been told, and the qualities of him that rise the highest. A man has counted the grains of dust on the earth if he can tell over the qualities of Visnu. The sixth was the son of Caksus, the Manu named Caksusa; and Puru, Purusa, Sudyumna and the rest were the sons of Caksusa. There Indra was Mantradruma, the gods were the Apyas and the other hosts, and the sages there, king, were Havismat, Viraka and the rest. There too, of Vairaja by Devasambhuti, there was born a son named Ajita, the Bhagavan by a portion of himself, the lord of the world.
