41Bali struck great Indra with ten arrows, Airavata with three, the four bearers with four, and with one the man who rode behind. 42Sakra, quick in his moving, cut those arrows down with as many sharp broad-headed shafts as they came at him, before they reached him, and he seemed to be laughing as he did it. 43Seeing that fine piece of work of his, Bali, unable to bear it, took up a javelin. Indra cut it through while it was still in his hand, blazing as it was like a great meteor. 44Then a spear, then a dart, then lances and swords: whatever weapon he took up, the mighty one cut it all to pieces.
