12I have seen the descents you make when you take your pleasure with the strands. Now I want to see this one, the body of a woman that you put on, 13by which the Daityas were bewildered and the gods were given the nectar to drink. We have come wanting to see it, for our curiosity is very great. 14Asked in this way by him with the spear in his hand, the Bhagavan Visnu laughed, and his laugh had depth of feeling in it, and he answered the lord of the mountain: 15I took on the dress of a woman to make the Daityas wonder, when the vessel of nectar had gone over to them and I was looking to what the gods needed. 16That I will show you, best of gods, since you want to see it: a thing men in love make much of, and it rises out of what a man sets his mind on.
17Saying this, the Bhagavan vanished on the spot; and Bhava stayed there with Uma, sending his eye in every direction.
