Those brahmins, the Bhrgus, pleased with him, had him perform the world-conquering sacrifice for the sake of heaven; and seeing that he meant to conquer, those men of great power anointed him by rule with the great anointing. Then out of the fire, worshipped with offerings, there came a chariot plated with gold, horses coloured like Indra's own, and a banner shining with a lion upon it. There came too a shining bow overlaid with gold, two quivers that are never emptied, and shining armour; his grandfather gave him a garland whose flowers do not wither, and Sukra gave the conch. So, with his war-gear won for him by the brahmins and their blessings said over him, he walked round the brahmins keeping them on his right, made his bow to them, took his leave of Prahlada and saluted him.

Then that great chariot-fighter mounted the shining chariot the Bhrgus had given him, wearing his fine garland, put on his armour, took up bow and sword and slung his quiver. His arms bright with golden armlets, his crocodile earrings flashing, he shone as he stood there mounted on the chariot, like the fire that carries the offering standing on its altar.
