This is the vow called the milk vow, the highest honouring of the Person. The Grandfather told it, and I have set it out for you. And you, greatly favoured woman, keeping it rightly, with your feeling made pure and yourself held in check, serve Kesava, who does not waste away. This is called every sacrifice, and it is remembered as every vow. This is the marrow of austerity, good woman, and the gift that satisfies the Lord. These are the restraints themselves, and these the best of the disciplines: austerity, giving, vow, sacrifice, by which the one beyond the reach of the senses is pleased. So keep this vow, good woman, holding yourself in and trusting, and the Bhagavan, well pleased with you, will quickly grant you your boons.
