Bound with a girdle of munja grass, the sacred thread on him and a deerskin over it, his hair matted, small, a brahmin, Hari as a young student made of maya: seeing him come in, the Bhrgus with their pupils and with the fires stood up and received him, drawn small themselves by his fire. The sacrificer, delighted, brought him a seat, good to look at and pleasing, its parts matched to his form. Then Bali greeted him with a welcome, and washing the feet of the Bhagavan, he worshipped him, the delight of the minds of those who cling to nothing. That washing of his feet, which takes away the stains of men, that knower of dharma set upon his head as a thing most auspicious; and it is what the god of gods, the lord of the mountain, whose crest is the moon, has borne upon his head with the highest devotion.
