Welcome to you, and salutation to you, brahmin. What are we to do for you? Worthy one, I take you for the austerity of the sages of Brahman itself, wearing a body. Today our fathers are satisfied; today our line is made clean; today this rite of ours is well offered, since you have come to our house. Today my fires have been well fed by the rule, son of a brahmin, for my wrongs have been beaten out of me by the water that washed your feet; and this earth, ah, has been made clean as well by your small feet. Boy, whatever you want, take it from me. Son of a brahmin, I take you for one who has come to ask. A cow, gold, a fine well-kept house, food and drink, or a brahmin's daughter; rich villages, horses, elephants or chariots: take them, most worthy one.
