Once, great king, as he went about hunting in the forest with a few ministers around him, having mounted a horse from Sindhu, and taken up a lovely bow and arrows that were a wonder to see, that hero in his armour went northward after a deer. The prince went into a wood at the foot of Meru, where the revered Sarva stays, taking his pleasure with Uma. No sooner had he entered it than Sudyumna, killer of enemy heroes, saw himself a woman, and his horse a mare, king. And all who went with him, seeing the marks of their own bodies turned about, lost heart and looked at one another. How does a place come to have such a property, revered one, or by whom was it made so? Answer us this question; we are very curious about it.
