Sukanya, having got for a husband Cyavana, a man very quickly angered, knew his mind, and pleased him with attentions in which she was never once careless. After some time the Nasatyas came to the hermitage. He honoured them and then said: Lords, give me back my years. I will take a cup of the soma at the sacrifice for you two as well, though you are not soma drinkers. Make me the age and the look that women want. So be it, said the two best of healers, welcoming what the brahmin asked. Go down, they said, into this pool, which was made by the perfected ones. Told this, his body eaten away by old age, his veins standing out along him, his frame wrinkled and white-haired, he was led into the pool by the two Asvins.

Three men rose out of it, handsome, such as women love, wearing lotus garlands and earrings, alike in form and finely dressed. Looking at them, alike in form and bright as the sun, and not able to tell which was her husband, that faithful woman of lovely bearing went to the Asvins for refuge. Pleased with her faithfulness to her husband, they showed her which was he, took their leave of the sage and went by sky-chariot to the third heaven.
