23A whole year went by in the time between the sage's going and his not coming back; and the king, wanting the sight of him, lived on water. 24Then, when Durvasas had gone, Ambarisa took food made altogether clean by a brahmin's use of it. Knowing the sage's trouble and his release from it, he held his own strength to be the power of the Supreme. 25That king, who had many such qualities, carried devotion by whole heaps of rites to the supreme Self, to Brahman, to Vasudeva; and by it he made hells of the worlds all the way up to Brahma's. 26Then Ambarisa, steady, made over the kingdom to his sons, who were of his own temper, and went into the forest, setting his mind on Vasudeva who is within the self, the running current of the strands broken up in him.
27So, lord of the earth, this is the holy telling of Ambarisa. One who sings it out and keeps thinking on it becomes devoted to the Bhagavan.
