Nimi, son of Iksvaku, chose Vasistha to officiate for him. He began the long sacrifice, and Vasistha said: Sir, Sakra engaged me before you did. When I have finished with him I will come. Wait for me until then. The master of the house said nothing; and Vasistha performed Indra's sacrifice. Nimi knew that this world does not stand still, and he had himself in hand. He began the sacrifice with other priests, since his teacher had not come in all that while. The teacher finished there and came back; and seeing that his pupil had gone past him he cursed him: let the body of Nimi fall, who thinks himself learned. Nimi gave the curse back to the teacher, who walked in wrongdoing: your body too shall fall, since out of greed you did not know dharma.
