From Garga came Sini, and from him Gargya: out of the kshatriya line brahminhood came about. From Mahavirya came Duritaksaya, and his sons were Trayyaruni, Kavi, and Puskararuni; these here went the way of brahmins. Brhatksatra's son was Hastin, and Hastinapura is named for him. Hastin's sons were Ajamidha, Dvimidha and Purumidha. Of Ajamidha's line are the brahmins headed by Priyamedha. From Ajamidha came Brhadisu; his son was Brhaddhanu, and after him Brhatkaya, whose son was Jayadratha. His son was Visada, and to him was born Senajit. Rucirasva, Drdhahanu, Kasya and Vatsa were Senajit's sons. Rucirasva's son was Para, and Prthusena was Para's son. Para's son was Nipa, and Nipa had a hundred sons.

On Krtvi, Suka's daughter, Nipa begot Brahmadatta. He was a yogin, and on his wife Go he set a son, Visvaksena. By what Jaigisavya taught him he made a treatise on yoga. From him came Udaksena, and from him Bhallata: these are the Barhadisavas.
