Those who lived in the camp smelled the sweetness of the smoke from the pyre and came into the camp saying, what is this, and where is it from? There they heard from the cowherds the account of Putana's coming and the rest of it, and of her death and the child's safety, and they were filled with wonder. Nanda, whose mind was open, took up his own son, come back from death, and smelled his head, and knew the greatest gladness, best of the Kurus. The mortal who hears with trust this wonderful thing done by Krsna as a child, the release of Putana, comes to love Govinda.
