Garga, the household priest of the Yadus, king, a man of very great austerity, went to Nanda's camp, sent by Vasudeva. Seeing him, Nanda was delighted, and rose to meet him with his hands joined; he bowed down first and then worshipped him, holding him in mind as the one beyond the reach of the senses. When the sage was well seated and had been received as a guest, Nanda gladdened him with true and pleasant words and said: Brahmin, what are we to do for one who lacks nothing? When the great move about among men who are householders, whose minds are poor things, it works for their highest good, revered one, and never at any time for anything else.

The course of the lights is a knowledge that goes past the senses, and it was set out by you, and by it a man knows what is higher and what is lower. You are the best of those who know Brahman. You should do the rites for these two boys. Among men a brahmin is a teacher by birth.
