13He who has no inside and no outside, who has no before and no after; who is the before and the after of the world and its outside and its inside, and who is the world itself: 14him, unmanifest, beyond the reach of the senses, wearing the marks of a mortal, the cowherd woman took for her own son and bound with a cord to the mortar, as one binds an ordinary child. 15As she tied her own small wrongdoer, that cord came out two fingers short, and so the cowherd woman joined another one to it. 16What she had was short as well, so she joined on yet another; and that one too was two fingers short, and so with every binding she took up.
17So Yasoda went on joining together every cord in her house, and while the cowherd women laughed at it she smiled herself, and was amazed.
