So the unborn one saw them all at once as the highest Brahman itself, in whose shining all this shines, everything that moves and does not move. Then the unborn one, thrown up by too much wonder, his eleven senses stopped still, went silent before that splendour, like a doll set before the goddess of the town. So, when the lord of speech could not even look at him who is past reasoning, measured only by his own greatness, beyond, unborn, reached by the Upanisads whose way is to deny what he is not, and was bewildered, saying, What is this?, the unborn and highest one, knowing it, at once covered over the curtain of maya.

Then Ka, his eyes given back to him, got up like a man come back from the dead, and opening his sight with difficulty he looked at this world and at himself. Looking round at once on every side, he saw standing before him Vrndavana, thick with the trees that people live by, and pleasant in every season, where creatures at enmity by their nature, men and beasts and the rest, lived together like friends, their running and their rage and their thirst all gone, because the Unconquered lived there.
