So Krsna, glad at heart, took his pleasure in Vrndavana, driving the cattle about the slopes of the hill and along the banks of the river, with his people around him. Sometimes he sings while the bees sing, blind with their honey; and wearing a garland, with Sankarsana beside him, his doings are sung by those who follow him. Sometimes he calls back at the calling of the swans; sometimes he dances at a dancing peacock, and makes them laugh. Sometimes, with a voice deep as a cloud, he calls the cattle that have gone far off by their names, lovingly, and it is sweet to the cows and to the cowherds. He calls back at the cakora and the crane and the ruddy goose and the bharadvaja and the peacocks, and he runs from the tiger and the lion as though afraid, as the animals do.

Sometimes, when his elder brother is worn out with play and has a cowherd's lap for a pillow, he rests him himself, rubbing his feet and the rest.
