The cowherds told the women what those two had done, that astonishing thing, and how they had got free of the forest fire, and about the killing of Pralamba. The old cowherd men and the cowherd women heard it and were amazed, and thought that Krsna and Rama, come to Vraja, must be the best of the gods. Then the rains began, out of which every living thing comes, with lightning flashing all round the horizon and the floor of the sky breaking into thunder. The sky, hidden by thick dark clouds with lightning and thunder in them, its light no longer clear, looked like Brahman joined to the strands. The wealth of water he had drunk from the earth for eight months, Parjanya began to let go with his own rays, now that the time had come.

The great clouds with lightning in them, shaken by the hard wind, let fall the water that gladdens this world and keeps it alive, as people give who feel pity.
