The earth, worn thin by heat, was wetted by the god and grew full again, like the body of one who has borne austerity for something he wanted and now has it. At nightfall it is the fireflies that shine in the dark and not the planets, as in the Kali age it is false teachings that shine through wrongdoing, and not the Vedas. Hearing the noise of the rain-cloud the frogs let their voices out, having lain quiet before, like brahmins at the end of a vow. The little rivers, which had been drying away, ran out of their channels, like the body and the wealth and the goods of a man who is not his own master. Green with new grass, red with the small scarlet insects, shaded by the mushrooms pushing up, the ground was like the good fortune of men.

The fields with their wealth of grain gave the ploughmen gladness, and gave distress to the proud, who do not know that all this is in the hands of fate.
