So, with the water of autumn clear and the wind coming sweet off the lotus ponds, the Unfallen went into that wind, and the cows and the cowherd boys with him. The lord of Madhu went down into it — pools and rivers and hills loud with the humming bees of the flowering rows of trees and with flocks of birds — and grazing the cows with the herdsmen and Bala beside him, he sounded his flute. The women of Vraja heard that song of the flute, and desire rose in them; and some of them, out of Krsna's hearing, told their friends what it was like. They set out to tell it, remembering the things Krsna does, and they could not, king, for their minds were thrown about by the force of desire.

A peacock feather bound in his hair, the body of the finest actor, karnikara flowers at his ears, a garment yellow as gold and the Vaijayanti garland, filling the holes of the flute with the nectar of his lip, he went into the Vrnda forest with the crowds of cowherds, his fame sung as he came, and his feet make that forest lovely. Hearing that sound of the flute, king, which takes away the mind of every living thing, all the women of Vraja held one another and told it over.
