So ordered by Maghavan, the clouds, let off their tether, fell upon Nanda's Gokula with cloudbursts and battered it with all their strength. Flashing with lightning, bellowing with thunder, driven on by the fierce winds, they rained down water and hail. The clouds let fall, again and again, streams of rain as thick as pillars; the ground was flooded under the rushing water, and low and high could no longer be told apart. In that great downpour and great wind the animals began to shake, and the cowherd men and women, hurt with the cold, went to Govinda for refuge. Covering their heads and their children with their own bodies, beaten by the rain and shivering, they came to the feet of the Bhagavan.

Krsna, Krsna, greatly favoured, master, this Gokula has you for its lord: save us from the angry god, you who are tender to those devoted to you.
